We work with only those women who meet the federal poverty guidelines and who demonstrate a willingness to do what it takes to make their lives better. Once accepted each woman is matched with a mentor and required to work with a life coach throughout the length of the program. Literacy training is also available if necessary.
This is a rigorous program intended to prepare women for successful entry into the work world. It requires commitment and determination. The reward for successful completion of all program requirements is a grant for the purchase of a vehicle. We know how important transportation is in being successful in the working world. We also provide vehicle maintenance during the first year of ownership.
Each woman in the program is matched with and required to correspond with a woman survivor of war from one of eight countries. Her letters provide support and encouragement to a woman who is much less fortunate than she. Helping to lift another person up also helps to build her own self esteem. As a sponsor, she supports the survivor both emotionally and financially in rebuilding a life for herself and her family.
